Context

Masjid An-Nuur is an Islamic Mission for Africa (IMA) affiliate Masjid, located in Igbo-Efon, a burgeoning multi-tribal and multi-religious community on the Lekki Express (between Jakande & Chevron junctions) in Lagos, Nigeria.

purpose

'Masjid' - derived from the root word ‘Sajda’, which means to prostrate before Allah (SWT), is a place of worship for Muslim brothers and sisters. We aim to reflect the universal message of brotherhood in Islam, as we all stand shoulder to shoulder, feet to feet, to perform our prayers irrespective of gender, condition, colour, tribe or wealth.

focus

Our Masjid is community focussed and includes a small Madrassah. We impart Sunnah related teachings to the Ummah and our children so that we grow to become better people through a better understanding of Islam.

We run our Madrasah as a traditional community resource for young and old, Muslims and non-muslims. When not in use it serves as a multi-purpose room for Muslim rites and as a Tutorial College for the JAMB University entrance examination.

We also have functioning male and female public toilets and washrooms, attached to the Masjid. It is run commercially and open to all in our community and beyond.

In Houses that Allah has allowed to be exalted and that His name will be remembered therein. Therein, do offer praise to Him, at morning and evening, men whom neither merchandise nor sale beguiles them from the remembrance of Allah and constancy in prayer and paying to the poor their due, men who fear the day on which hearts and eyeballs will be overturned.
